About the COVID-19 Pandemic

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Common symptoms include fever, cough and shortness of breath. Other symptoms include fatigue, muscle pain, diarrhoea, sore throat, loss of smell and abdominal pain.

For most people, COVID-19 infection will cause mild illness however, it can make some people very ill and, in some people, it can be fatal.

It is vital to contact trace the infected people efficiently to contain such virus. Since the symptoms like Cough and Fever are common, people generally panic and asks for testing, which overburdens the production of testing kits.

Automated chest radiograph interpretation at the level of practicing radiologists could provide substantial benefit in many medical settings, from improved workflow prioritization and clinical decision support to large-scale screening and global population health initiatives.

The aim for DiseaseNet is not only to identify such people but to identify any disease by providing minimal data so that it helps in testing of any future pandemic.
